This is a 1963 Mooney M20D-Master. She is one of only 2-3 fixed gear Mooneys left in the marketplace. If you are looking for a very stock, classic Mooney, this is your plane. The panel is set up for basic IFR with dual King Navcoms, including glideslope, Loran, marker, and ADF. The O360 Lycoming was totally rebuilt about 175 hours ago and the Hartzell propeller just had the annual/100 hour AD complied with. The airframe is low time with only xxxx hours.
For those of you in the fixed gear market, but unfamiliar with Mooney, and specifically with the Master, nothing can really compare. She will do 120 knots at 8500ft on 8gph with a range of 400 km. She will climb to 5500 ft in 6-7 minutes---obviously pushing 900 fpm--with full fuel (48 gallons) and two people and 100 lb luggage. This on a 70 degree day from sea level field.
Bottom line, you just cant compare this fixed gear bird with your usual Cessna 172, Piper 180 or any other fixed gear bird in terms of speed, performance, easy of flight, and most of all--economy. There is no heavy duty annual costs for retracts, turbo, or massive electrical systems--(the flaps are hydraulic). The insurance costs are minimal and easy to place with many carriers as well. Hating to get rid of the little bird, but am having to leave the aviation scene.
